Energetic Riot Shield

Everyone in my life is a good person.  I’m very lucky for that.  Every once in awhile, I will be with someone who, for some reason, needs to lash out with anger.  I know not to take things personally, but I also believe that words have energy that can easily be absorbed into the body.  Kind words make people feel good, harsh words can make us feel like we’ve been attacked, and even create illness.

If everyone understood how much energy our words have on each other, we would all be more selective with what we say, and gentler with how we say it.  Because this is not common knowledge, people say things that are truly hurtful, without thinking much of it.  An apology doesn’t undo the damage that has been done.

It’s because of this that I created an energetic riot shield for myself.
A riot shield is a transparent protection device used by police, to deflect projectiles like bullets, shrapnel, or anything thrown at them.  When I’m around someone who I know will be, what I call, verbally vomiting- speaking mean and negative things, I put up my energetic shield.  It’s super easy to do, I simply think about it.

The shield is clear so I can easily see what’s coming at me and respond appropriately.  It’s not heavy or cumbersome.  It’s outside my body so it doesn’t affect my physical being, and I can put it down with another simple thought.
This, not only protects me from negative words, but puts me in a place of becoming a witness to what’s happening, rather than a victim.  As a witness, I can gain a larger perspective, and keeps me strong, through a sense of peace.

I invite you to construct your own riot shield.  You do it with a thought, so it doesn’t require any time or money.  It may provide you with a sense of well-being during what may have been a challenging situation.

Try it, and let me know how it goes in the comments below.
